Established private
occupational therapy practice in Brooks, Alberta seeking occupational therapist
to join our team. We are currently looking
to fill a 1.0 FTE for the 2019-2020 school year. Late starting dates will be considered for the
right candidate. This is a permanent position.
Our team of therapists and assistants work to provide primarily school
based occupational therapy services for students ages 3-6 during the school
year.
Our therapists
actively work to help our clients to build fine and gross motor skills and
address sensory needs, self help, social thinking and executive functioning as
well as play skills.
We can also
provide private consultative services in the surrounding areas. We work in collaboration with families,
teachers and other professionals to develop client centered programs and
interventions. We are fortunate to live
and work in culturally diverse and close-knit communities.
The candidate will be responsible for:
Completing
assessments and appropriate documentation to support the unique programming
needs of children.
Developing
goals and strategies, intervention plans and making necessary adaptation
recommendations.
Supporting
teachers as well as parents to implement strategies effectively.
Collaborating
with multidisciplinary teams.
Program
development and implementation of innovative ideas.
Providing
presentations to teachers and paraprofessionals.
Supervising
occupational therapy assistants as well as guiding paraprofessionals.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelors or master’s degree in
occupational therapy or equivalent from an accredited University program. New grads are welcome to apply.
ACOT registration and proof of current
professional liability insurance.
Valid Alberta driver’s license and
reliable vehicle to travel between schools.
Mileage reimbursement is available. Minimal travel is required.
Up to date and clean Criminal Record and
Child Welfare checks.
Previous experience with early
intervention services is an asset. A
passion for learning about and serving the pediatric population is a must.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication
skills.
Flexible and able to work effectively
with other professionals and families.
Able to work independently and with a
supportive team.
Aptitude for relevant technology.
Well developed organizational and time
management skills.
Strong desire to continue with
professional development and evidenced based practice.
Fun loving and positive attitude.
Salary: Negotiable based on experience.
Start date: Full time positions can commence immediately.
