Private Contract in Edmonton

I am an Occupational Therapist currently working with a 6 year old girl diagnosed with ASD.
She receives 2 hours a month of Occupational Therapy services through FSCD funding.
Her parents prefer ABA programming and because of this they receive specialized services through Autism Partnership in Calgary.

I am unable to continue working with this family and they require another OT to continue their services as of July 1st 2014. If you are interested in providing services to this family please contact me at tiarathorson@gmail.com and I can provide you with further information.

Thank you!

Pain Knowledge Survey

Pain matters to occupational therapists.

Pain matters to occupational therapists because one in five Canadian adults and children will suffer from significant pain at some point in their lives, older adults' pain tolerance decreases with age, and one in every two persons with depression report suffering from pain .

Please help us to identify pain knowledge gaps that the profession should address. Improved pain knowledge ultimately helps all of our clients, regardless of their age or condition. Your input is important to help us determine what specific pain education occupational therapists need to improve their knowledge about pain management for all clients.

Please participate in the national survey of occupational therapists' pain knowledge. The survey is being conducted by Angelica Reyes and Cary Brown from the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta, Lisa Klinger from the Department of Occupational Therapy, University of Western Ontario and Kelly McIlroy, a private practice occupational therapist in Alberta. Participation involves online completion of a survey that will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

To thank you for your participation you can also enter a draw to receive a $75 CAOT gift voucher upon completion of the study, as well as to receive a copy of the final report once the study is completed.

You can help advance practice
in the important area of pain management.

Part-time OT position with Elk Island Public Schools

Elk Island Public Schools, based in Sherwood Park, has posted for a 0.4 FTE Occupational Therapist (with the possibility of increasing to a 0.5 or 0.6 FTE prior to the start date).  This is a two year term certain position beginning Wednesday August 27, 2014.  As the department is recently established (August 2012) all initial Occupational Therapist positions have been hired on a term basis rather than permanent, as is policy within the district; at the end of the term, positions will be reviewed with the likely possibility of extension.  Being a new department we have had an exciting opportunity to develop best practice policies, integrate technology, and offer our OT supports to an excited and appreciative audience.  We look forward to welcoming another OT to our team!
More information can be found on the district website:

The deadline to apply is Friday May 16, 2014 @ 12:00 noon

If you have any questions about the position please contact Andrea Wuetherick at andrea.wuetherick@eips.ca
Thank-you
