ACOT renewal 2022 - changes!

When you login to your profile the system will automatically send you an email with a confirmation code. Check your email and if not found, check your junk mail for info@acot.ca. You have 30 minutes to enter the confirmation code. If the time expires, you can try again. Login before the 2022/23 renewal deadline on Feb 28.

 
Start early and give yourself extra time especially if your employment has changed as that will need to be approved which can take days and delay your renewal then ACOT may have to hold your license and has enacted fines for practicing without a license due to such delays.

 REQUIREMENT: As of 2022/2023 Registration/Renewal, you must personally hold professional liability insurance in the amount of no less than five million dollars ($5,000,000) per occurrence, to be able to register for or renew your practice permit. See ACOT website:

When you renew with ACOT it will say "Please upload a copy of your insurance policy’s first page including your name, policy number, effective and expiry dates and coverage amount (no need to upload the whole policy)". 

 You will have a PLI certificate from CAOT when you renewed in october if you have it.

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team in a part- time position. Current demands approx. 15 hours/wk (2 days per week, flexible) with potential for more hours.
Within this role, the Occupational Therapist would be providing services in-person and via teletherapy including assessment, consultation, and treatment for children with a range of abilities, in collaboration with families and community partners in a variety of settings including home, clinic and schools.

Qualifications and Experience:

Canada-wide study on Developmental Coordination Disorder

================================== I am Dr. Jill Zwicker, an occupational therapist, researcher, and expert in Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) at BC Children’s Hospital. My team and I are currently recruiting parents of children with DCD to participate in an on-line survey. We are conducting research on the physical, social, emotional and financial impact of DCD on the child and family. The impACT for DCD questionnaire will be used to gather this information to inform government about the service needs of children with DCD and their families. If you meet the criteria for participation, please click on the link for further details and to complete the questionnaire. The criteria to participate in this research is as follows: 1. Primary residence of parent(s) and child(ren) is in Canada 2. Child(ren) must be under the age of 18 years with motor coordination challenges 3. These motor coordination challenges are not because of biological, genetic and/or developmental delays (e.g., cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, chromosomal abnormality, etc.) 4. Child(ren) may have a diagnosis of DCD, but a formal diagnosis is not required to participate in the study. Parents of children suspected to have DCD may also participate. 5. Child(ren) may have other co-occurring conditions that can include autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and/or speech language deficits. 6. Parents can be biological, adoptive or guardian/caregiver 7. Better Nights, Better Days during COVID-19 study recruitment

Hello! Corkum LABS at Dalhousie University is currently conducting a study to understand if the Better, Nights Better Days program improves the sleep, mental health, wellbeing, and family resiliency in children and parents during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to test how to “scale-out” the Better, Nights Better Days program to across Canada. The Better, Nights Better Days program is an evidence-based online program to support parents of children aged 1-10 years who experience sleeping problems including difficulties falling and staying asleep. We recently modified this program so that it could be used during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Now, more than ever, having good sleep is particularly important given the intense stress that many families have experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are recruiting 1,000 families of children who experience sleeping problems to test the Better, Nights Better Days during COVID-19 program across Canada. There is no cost for families to participate. Study recruitment will continue until December 2021. The study has been approved by the IWK Research Ethics Board.
