Putting It All Together: A Comprehensive Approach to Feeding Challenges

Ellen Yack and Associates Paediatric Therapy Services Presents:

Putting It All Together:
A Comprehensive Approach to Feeding Challenges

December 4-5, 2016

Ellen Yack and Associates are very excited to announce their new upcoming course taking place in Toronto on December 4-5, 2016.  Putting It All Together: A Comprehensive Approach to Feeding Challenges will integrate best practices from the fields of speech and language pathology, occupational therapy and psychotherapy. It will provide a much needed overview on how practitioners can facilitate food expansion without disrupting the parent-child relationship. Many practitioners have attended workshops where they learn specific strategies to reduce food selectivity but these strategies are often difficult to implement or do not yield success, due to the individualized nature of feeding problems.  Some practitioners are also uncomfortable with certain strategies which can cause anxiety in the child and/or parent and may lead to negative experiences with food and mealtimes.

This workshop will include the psychotherapy perspective which focuses on the importance of creating a nurturing environment that leads to positive parent and child interactions.  We will also review current practices and help participants to develop clinical reasoning skills to determine what approaches are best suited for the complex needs of individual children.
